BFMS Autumn Assembly English Ball
We invite you to a delightful evening of elegant dancing and exuberant music – it’s the BFMS Autumn Assembly English Ball, to be held on Saturday, September 27 from 6:30 to 10 pm.
Featuring the wonderful music of Trio Con Brio – Jonathan Jensen on piano (and pennywhistle and ocarina), Elke Baker on violin, and Paul Oorts on mandolin, banjo(!), concertina and more.

We'll start with dinner and jamming at R-House on Friday Oct 10 6-9pm
Saturday Oct 11 we'll have dancing of many kinds at Lovely Lane starting at 1:30 and going until 10:30
Sunday Oct 12 we'll have all kinds of folk performances at Oregon Ridge from 12-5

BFMS 50th Anniversary - Day of Dancing

Featuring Devine Comedy ~ Steve Hickman, fiddle and harmonica, Marty Taylor, whistles and concertina, John Devine, guitar, with Bobby LaRose, piano, and Laurie Andres, accordion
Andy Kane, April Blum, and DeLaura Padovan, calling
1:30-3:30pm: Family Dance with DeLaura Padovan calling beginner-friendly dances to the music of Devine Comedy
3:30-5:30pm: Couples dancing with Laurie Andres. Hambo lesson at 3:30pm led by Tom Zeller and Joyce Duncan
5:30-7pm: Dinner on your own at local restaurants
7:15pm: Grand March
7:30-10:30pm: The BFMS 50th Anniversary Dance with Susan Taylor and Andy Kane calling contras, English country dances, and squares to the music of Devine Comedy
10:30-midnight: After-party at Fadensonnen, 3 West 23rd Street
Admission: Online registration coming soon. Thanks to a generous donation, admission to the Anniversary Dance will be at 1975 prices ($2 non-members, $1 members). Additional donations gratefully accepted!

April Blum will call and Francine Krasowska, piano; Becky Ross, volin; and Mark Vidor, accordion will provide rhythm, tune and harmony.

Gentle English" are English country dances from all periods selected to be gentle on the knees, hips, feet, and backs of the dancers. BFMS plans to hold three or four Gentle English dances a year.

This month it's 4th Wednesday BFMS zoom song swap! 7:30! Septembert 24!
Fall!! Lst chance for a September song!!
The zoom song swap is a place for folks to come together and share songs, community, and keep the live singing tradition thriving. While we have been getting together on zoom, the 4th Tuesday BFMS songswap has become transcontinental and international with participants from west, farther west, and north and northwest across the border. You can drop in on the zoom and meet (and hear / sing with) some nice folks we 're not likely to meet in person!

The Friendly Coffeehouse Open Mic is a BFMS-sponsored event, taking place on Third Fridays each month at 7 pm. It offers a friendly, supportive atmosphere for acoustic musicians, poets, storytellers and other folkies.
A community of musicians, dancers, and listeners who love the traditional music of Ireland.
The Catoctin music and dance weekend getaway gives dancers and musicians of all ages a chance to attend a family-friendly weekend featuring folk music, crafts and dancing in a beautiful mountain setting.
BFMS board meetings are almost always on the first Tuesday of the month and are open to BFMS members. If you would like to attend, please contact the BFMS President via email. president at bfms.org
