Due to concerns about COVID-19, all BFMS in-person events have been cancelled through June 30, 2021. The BFMS Board will re-evaluate the situation periodically and decide if further cancellations are necessary.
Please help support our Callers and MusiciansBFMS encourages our members to donate to musicians and callers who had their BFMS sponsored gigs cancelled due to coronavirus. We are no longer accepting donations through our website, but CDSS has established a website for donations to musicians and callers.
If you cannot find contact info for specific performers, please contact our dance chairs, who can provide contact info.

‘Virtual Ceili’ Concert
7pm - This month features an amazing young musician, Patrick Armstrong, accompanied by local favorite Mitch Fanning. Again, a few figures from a set dance will be called by Ann Marie Breheny. Yes, the concert is free, but donations are appreciated. Watch for details on donating during the event -- they can be made directly by check (see gwcc-online.org for address), PayPal at www.paypal.me/gwccevents, or by using the ‘Donate’ button on our Facebook page.

GWCC set dance classes
This Summer Session will be eight classes long and will run from July 8 through August 26 for both Beginner and Advanced. Following CDC guidelines, to attend class you will have to show that you are vaccinated (ie 2 weeks past your last shot). You can email a copy/photo of your COVID vaccination card to firstname.lastname@example.org before classes start or show it at the door before your first class. SummerTunes! The Art of Playing for Contra Dances
Two Zoom sessions on consecutive Saturdays, July 31st & Aug. 7 @ 11:00-1:30 EDT. The workshop will focus on tips for making tunes deliciously danceable, creating variations and accompaniment, and constructing medleys that wow. Andrea Hoag (fiddle) and Liz Donaldson (piano) will lead the workshop, while participants play along with microphones muted. Register by emailing SummerTunesInfo@gmail.com. The fee is $45 for the full workshop, $35 for one session (some scholarship money will be available — please let us know if you or a friend could use it).

Traditional English Dances
Gentle English" are English country dances from all periods selected to be gentle on the knees, hips, feet, and backs of the dancers. BFMS plans to hold three or four Gentle English dances a year.

Other BFMS Events and Activities
The Song Swap is a place for folks to come together and share songs, community, and keep the live singing tradition thriving. Now at two different locations on two different dates:
2nd Tuesday (7:30 to 9:30 PM) at the Church of the Nativity and Holy Comforter.
4th Tuesday (7:30 to 9:30 PM) at the Four Hour Day Lutherie.
The Friendly Coffeehouse Open Mic is a BFMS-sponsored event, taking place on Third Fridays each month at 7 pm. It offers a friendly, supportive atmosphere for acoustic musicians, poets, storytellers and other folkies.
A community of musicians, dancers, and listeners who love the traditional music of Ireland.
The Catoctin music and dance weekend getaway gives dancers and musicians of all ages a chance to attend a family-friendly weekend featuring folk music, crafts and dancing in a beautiful mountain setting.
BFMS board meetings are almost always on the first Tuesday of the month and are open to BFMS members. If you would like to attend, please contact the BFMS President via email. president at bfms.org
