The Baltimore Folk Music Society presents American Square and Contra Dancing on the 2nd Saturday of the month running from 8:00 'till 11:00 pm, with a short break in the middle. Admission is: $8 BFMS Members & Affiliates, $12 non-members. Under 21 and full-time students with ID: $5 members, $6 non-members. Beginners, singles, couples, and families are welcome. Waltz into Spring with the return of the BFMS May Flowers Dance! This month we are delighted to present a very versatile caller teamed up with an equally versatile band. Ted Hodapp is well known for his entertaining, rhythmic, and fun style of calling. He is also amazingly adept at teaching and demonstrating a variety of couples dancing. A big element of this memorable evening will be the music of Amaryllis. This band is making their Baltimore Second Saturday debut and consists of 3 very talented women from Pittsburgh who play gorgeous, zesty, well arranged music from many traditions. Maro Avakian on piano, Donna Isaac on violin, and Allison Thompson on concertina and accordion have a special talent for selecting terrific tunes and arranging them to highlight the many strengths of the band. In addition to a great evening filled with lively contras, be prepared to enjoy some flowing waltzes and other couples dancing. Floral attire is encouraged, and please bring a special treat to share at the break. For even more fun, please consider joining the pot luck dinner at 6:30.
