Fourth Sunday starting in April 2019 - Stony Run Friends Meeting house 5116 N. Charles St. 3-5 PM. In Circlesinging, singers are taught music that is made up in the moment, offering parts to the group one by one, to form rhythmic, interlocking, and harmonic connections shared by the collective. We share the leadership, play musical games and come together in harmony. Not all singers need to be highly skilled, yet the collective experience is one of a shared musical journey of depth and quality. Circlesinging is an opportunity to tune in, listen deeply, shed beliefs and judgments, and tap into something larger than a single individual. It’s powerful. It’s embodied. It’s bonding. It's joyful. It’s community. See us on facebook - CircleSingingBaltimore

Sacred Harp Sing

Sing Sacred Harp the third Sunday of each month at 4:00 PM in the schoolhouse beside the Community Building at 17801 Meetinghouse Road, Sandy Spring, Maryland; pot-luck follows at 6:00. Books are available. Contact Dave Greene at or call 301-570-3283. All are welcome; there is no charge. Sacred Harp songs are 4-part a-cappello on a familiar scale with almost familiar names for the notes ("fa-sol-la-fa-sol-la-me fa" for the familiar "do-re-me-fa-sol-la-ti-do") and round, triangular, square, and diamond shapes (one need not worry about the names or shapes) for the familiar round shapes of notes (hence the alternative name: "Shape Note Singing" for "Sacred Harp Singing"). Sacred Harp was taught by early traveling ministers to congregations that had no organ or piano; often the beautiful harmonies had religious phrases.
