Welcome to the Baltimore Folk Music Society
The Baltimore Folk Music Society is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting folk music, dance, and tradition. BFMS sponsors regular dances, concerts, family events, and related activities year-round. Members are eligible for discounts to Society events by showing their membership card.
BFMS is a member of the Country Dance & Song Society and shares reciprocity arrangements with the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, and the Annapolis Traditional Dance Society.
Please take the time to review the BFMS suggestions and policy on reducing risk of COVID-19.
BFMS Memberships ExtendedBFMS is extending all memberships during the time that BFMS events have been cancelled. What that means is that all BFMS Memberships are extended for a month for each month that events are cancelled.
Please help support our Callers and MusiciansBFMS encourages our members to donate to musicians and callers who had their BFMS sponsored gigs cancelled due to coronavirus. We are no longer accepting donations through our website, but CDSS has established a website for donations to musicians and callers.
If you cannot find contact info for specific performers, please contact our dance chairs, who can provide contact info.

BFMS Song Swap
Suggested theme: Unusual Occurrences/Phenomenon (this could include spooky stuff or funny stuff, it's up to you). Cats coming back, mistaken identity of swans, tricksters, weather oddities... Come join the Four Hour Day, Baltimore Folk Music Society and pals with a song (folk inspired/classic country/old-time/bluegrass/original). A chorus is great for others to sing along. You can also join us to listen, add an instrumental solo, and enjoy the huge variety of songs presented by a surprising array of musicians. All we ask is that you are ready with your tuned instrument and lyrics to sing when it's your turn. And remember, only one person can sing at a time on Zoom! Email Andy if you have questions: email@example.com, See below for the the 4HD Zoom link:
