Welcome to the Baltimore Folk Music Society

The Baltimore Folk Music Society is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting folk music, dance, and tradition. BFMS sponsors regular dances, concerts, family events, and related activities year-round. Members are eligible for discounts to Society events by showing their membership card.

BFMS is a member of the Country Dance & Song Society and shares reciprocity arrangements with the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, and the Annapolis Traditional Dance Society.

From the President - It's been a challenging year and we all have the goal to be able to meet in person and dance, sing, share stories and enjoy! To facilitate this transition, we are looking for volunteers to participate on the BFMS Board and to help us move forward with a safe transition.
If you are interested or have questions, please contact me at president@bfms.org. Thank you and looking forward to working together - Lisa Kornberg

Please take the time to review the BFMS suggestions and policy on reducing risk of COVID-19.

BFMS Memberships Extended

BFMS is extending all memberships during the time that BFMS events have been cancelled. What that means is that all BFMS Memberships are extended for a month for each month that events are cancelled.

While BFMS is not currently hosting any in-person events, we continue to serve as a clearinghouse for a number of community in person and virtual events. We hope to be able to offer in-person events in the near future! To protect those most at risk of infection from Covid-19, we expect that vaccination and pre-registration will be required when we gather again in-person. Stay tuned for more information - we miss you!

Please help support our Callers and Musicians

BFMS encourages our members to donate to musicians and callers who had their BFMS sponsored gigs cancelled due to coronavirus. We are no longer accepting donations through our website, but CDSS has established a website for donations to musicians and callers.
